Unbroken resilience meets South Australian riches
This months’ reviewed book was not the sort to be washed down lightly with a wine glass full of something nondescript and fleeting. I needed a wine that was large and robust enough to suit the conversation. I guess I could have gone with a serious claret but circumstances are not always that amenable to me, namely the price tag. Wines & Spines kicks off in Italy
After a bit of a break and a leap from Belize to California, I have started the wine and book comb night again - but this time it’s called Wines & Spines. This being our first get together, we did not come armed with a book to discuss. We, however, had no trouble providing suggested titles that were pulled randomly out of the wine bucket. Our next W&S book will be Scandalous Women by Elizabeth Kerri Mahon. She also has a blog.

A Virtual tour of French Wine
I recently hosted a PTA Auction French wine tasting for parents who were willing to part with some cash (for a good cause) in exchange for a virtual wine tour down through France. As a bonus I decided to do a spot of food matching at the same time.

Sonoma Chardonnay for my Thanksgiving Turkey
I wanted to try out a Californian Chardonnay to wash down my first ever Thanksgiving - though not my first - turkey. I opted for the 2007 Les Pierres Sonoma Cutrer from the Sonoma Valley.

My first Pinot from the Sonoma Coast AVA
This intriguing 2006 pinot is from the Torres family Dona Margarita vineyard in Russian River Valley where the Pacific provides a cooling influence on the ripening process.
